Digital Accountant / Senior Accountant – DATEV & LucaNet

I'm working with a growing international business in the Karlsruhe area that is strengthening its Accounting function and looking for experienced Accountants who combine strong German accounting knowledge with a genuinely digital and data-driven approach.

This isn't a traditional bookkeeping position. We're looking for someone who is hands-on in DATEV and DUO with a proven track record using it, confident working with accounting data and comfortable operating across multiple entities and systems.

What you'll be doing

• Own day-to-day financial accounting across German entities
• Work hands-on with DATEV and DATEV Unternehmen online (DUO)
• Handle AP, AR, bank accounting, open items and account reconciliations
• Support monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities under HGB
• Perform intercompany reconciliations, recharges and cross-company accounting
• Work with LucaNet for reporting and consolidation activities
• Prepare, upload, validate and reconcile financial data from different source systems
• Analyse accounting data and identify inconsistencies before they become problems
• Support VAT-related accounting activities and documentation
• Work closely with internal Finance stakeholders, auditors and tax advisers
• Improve and digitalise accounting workflows, interfaces and controls
• Help develop more efficient processes around invoices, payments, expenses and financial reporting

What we're looking for:

The most important thing is genuine hands-on experience. You'll be expected to explain what you've personally done in DATEV/DUO and how you've worked with accounting data.

Must-have:

• Several years of hands-on German financial accounting experience
• Strong practical DATEV experience
• Experience with DATEV Unternehmen online (DUO)
• Experience with LucaNet, particularly consolidation/reporting
• Strong understanding of HGB and German accounting
• Experience with intercompany accounting/reconciliation
• Very good Excel skills, including Pivot Tables
• Ability to analyse, reconcile and validate large sets of accounting data
• Fluent/native-level German and strong professional English
• High level of accuracy, ownership and independence

Particularly valuable:

• Experience working across multiple legal entities or within a group/holding structure
• SKR03 / SKR04
• Power Query and/or Power BI
• Digital invoice and document workflows
• Experience improving or automating Finance processes
• Experience with international accounting environments

Must live in or within close distance to Karlsruhe for on-site presence.
